Re: 1303 'Versuchsfahrzeug'
Merci pur le compliments ce-sur
Yesterday I was in luck as I found a set of Goetze rings for the 914 2.0 pistons locally!
Today I have collected the case for the 2,2 ltr turbo in order for me to tap the oil channel plugs into it. It needs to be done now before the oil squiters go in as you don't want to be stuck with an aluminium thread blocking an oil squirter lateron.
It was a nice opportunity to look at the case and what has been done so far. You can clearly see the drilled squirter holes and where they tap-off from the main bearings:
(the cylinder bases still have to be decked, so it will look different lateron)
Problem usually is the 3rd cylinder as the oil canal for the squirter would touch air when just drilled like the others. So, a little bit was welded in to prevent that problem:
Afterwards the case has received 6 (!) dowels and was alignbored (which also makes sense to do after welding alone)
Further I noticed the tool steel type 1 cam followers and the rocker shafts were DLC-treated and back:
Finally I noticed a 4-bolt type 4 head sawed through the spark plug hole, which I thought I could show you all:

Re: 1303 'Versuchsfahrzeug'
Hi Walter, did you drill & thread the squirters holes by yourself ? Did you use the porsche squirters ? Is their location accurate or did you put them "where you can" ?
Very nice modification at all ! ! ! i'd like to do it in my T1 case , but it scared me

Nooo, I only drill and tap my NPT case plugs myselfKamperRS a écrit :Hi Walter, did you drill & thread the squirters holes by yourself ?
Yes, they will be porsche squirters installed (not in there yet in picture). Not sure exactly how to answer your second question, but the engine shop knows what they are doing if you know what I meanDid you use the porsche squirters ? Is their location accurate or did you put them "where you can" ?
Next week the engine parts will be ready I heard
Sorry, I only saw your post now...
Since I fear that this next 2,2 turbo engine will make a lot of torque (too much for the 915 maybe), I am trying to install an early short-nose G50 tranny in place of the 915.
Trial fitting G50 to type 4 casing:
I want to shorten the bellhousing and main shaft by 28mm, so the entire G50 transmission has to be taken apart...
Strong (because BIG) diff:
Intended pressure plate and clutch:
Sachs race engineering en Kennedy organic race clutch plate
Still not sure it will all work out, but there's only one way to find out

The flanges from a front differential of a 964 C4 are 100mm and therefore fit my 100mm Bus T2 CV's as shown

Re: 1303 'Versuchsfahrzeug'
If the G50 move the engine, will you have to rebuild the turbo intake and exhaust ?

Re: 1303 'Versuchsfahrzeug'
Probably some, I just don't know yet what and which. Some parts like the turbo-bracket I'd say yes, they would need adapting a little.
Thats all in the game when you start changing parts and want to go faster
