Alan GL a écrit :It'll look great!!! you'll still have space for the intercooler with the vertical fan system or you planify to change?
I think yes, not a problem as the fan is on the front of the engine
and also I have a question that I want to ask you for a while... what is it from the engine that you'll use as a table?
You mean the engine stand?
Its a bell-housing from a T2 bolted to a plate with a shaft to rotate the engine and all is bolted to the workbench/table.

Ah,yes! :-D
I really look forward to dismantle that engine further. Its from a VW Passat model 3BG (last Passats that had the engine longitudinal mounted, 2000-2003-ish). Its a W8 4.0 ltr engine and very compact. Shame the rods/rodbearings are the weak point and spares are difficult to get. This one has fialed rod bearings too by the feel of one of the pistons...

Just finished the cooling shroud for the long block and awaiting the lightened flywheel this weekend.

First had to cut it in 3 parts to shorten it (engine is very small/short):

What kind of clutch setup are you going to use on the type4 engine?

Its will be a Tilton cera-metallic dual disk set-up in 7,25" diameter (184mm).
I'll make a pic when clutch and flywheel are back here. It should be very light-weight too (both flywheel and clutch)

Cooling shroud is 'repaired'

The b*tch finally started today after a faulty VR-sensor had me fooled for most of the day. Gas respons is much faster and I needed to add about 8% more fuel in the map 8)
