Rev limiter is spark cut. Launch control is spark cut as well. Boost cut is even more violent. The horizontal fan wasn't designed to stand those spark cuts at 7000 or 7500 rpm.
Also the moving parts (pulley 2 kg, two guidance wheels 1 kg each) were very heavy. 'Race car' with turbo needs fast rpm climbing to build boost sooner and regain rpm quicker after shifting for boost to build again.
So, lighter moving parts with less friction, more stable is what the rebuild was set-out to accomplish. Hence the lighter clutch and flywheel: all to have a more responsive, faster rpm climbing engine. Thats also why I now run a bit smaller turbo, more suitable for a 2,2 ltr engine, also to have earlier boost for coming out of turns, chasing Race-taxi's at Spa
Hope this makes sense?

Just did a test drive today  :boire:
New camshaft really makes a difference too as its a LOT faster at lower boost!

There is a Track-day at the Nurburgring this coming friday (22-6) already and I am going!

Just made a new rear apron seal plate:

and while I was fitting and cutting the plate until it fitted the engine and rear apron:

No, not at all I think...Acceleration out of the bends was very nice, but high speed changing directions is still a bit unstable as it was before :?
Plus my driving and guts are no match for the skills of the Race taxi pilot
