Its not of course

and the engine would have made 500 easy, if it wasn’t for a building mistake (switched pistons) of me that resulted in engine damage...
So I had to rebuild it again.

The vw aircooled that run and the most powerful to my knowledge.
The subaru engine are aircooled...

				Almost ready to be installed:
I'll try to run it N/A first, so I have a baseline again and because I want to try a new (patented) idea on the exhaust

				Nice job Walter, congratulation

Did you cut the Deutz cylinder under clamping load similar to an installation on the engine?
While cutting mine to bore size of 105mm I measured a deformation of 0.03 to 0.04mm with the 4x 35Nm torque which represents a significant part of the operating clearance. Therefore I machined my cylinders under pre-load as they recover 100% shape (elastic deformation)
Did you by any chance measure how they behave with a 102mm bore diameter?

I understand and you did good practice with that!

These were however new german cylinders (not the china copies) and were already 102mm to start with. So, I didn't bore them and machinework for shortening was done elsewhere. They are extremely thick and sturdy (very good hard iron), so making them shorter only won't distord anything.

Ok

Repaired the damaged head:
Crank assembly goes back in with same bearings and all:
With the Deutz cylinders, I wanted some extra cooling.
This is for a little lower engine bay temps:
and this for some extra oil cooling reserve:

Top one is my old cooler I had in there for over 15 years or so...
Bottom one is Mercedes as well (from ebay

) but obviously just bigger thus better and fits just behind the front valance grill!
